While an SUV can prove to be very useful to transport the family, the wagon is also very suitable and does it with more style. The SUV usually delivers more ground clearance, letting you access more types of roads and terrain. SUVs often times have more cargo volume, but that’s not always the case. The Volvo XC40 and Volvo V60 are both great choices in the Volvo family.
Here, we look at the main differences between the Volvo V60 wagon and the Volvo XC40 SUV.
Both vehicles are powerful and efficient
The V60 has a very efficient engine choice. The T6 engine uses a four cylinder with a supercharger and a turbocharger to output a total of 316 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.
You may also opt for the V60 Recharge with the T8 engine. This one gives you 400 horsepower. This is a plug-in hybrid and can drive up to 35 kilometres without using a drop of gas. The T8-Powered V60 also has a Polestar Engineered variant that incorporates a series of motorsport-inspired components, as well as 15 more horsepower.
The XC40 offers a choice of three powertrains. The T4 uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with an output of 187 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. The more powerful T5 uses a similar setup to output 248 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
The third powertrain choice is in the XC40 Recharge and is fully electric. It delivers up to 402 horsepower and lets you drive up to 359 kilometres on a full charge.
Impressive cargo volume in the 2022 Volvo V60
The V60 and XC40 have different body styles and offer different cargo volumes. The XC40 SUV offers 413 litres of cargo when full of passengers, and 1,337 litres when the 2nd row is flat.
Impressively, the V60 offers even more, with 513 litres of space when it is full of passengers. Once the seats are folded, you get a total of 1,441 litres.
The 2022 Volvo V60 starts at $51,250 and the XC40 starts at $39,950, but both offer unparalleled style, safety and technologies and are powered by the best in terms of powertrains.
