The all-new 2022 Volvo XC60 arrives on the market this year with a few significant improvements. The 2022 Volvo XC60 will remain one of the most comfortable and refined compact luxury SUV's you can buy. That said, it is now offered with mild-hybrid powertrains in the new B5 and B6 variants which replace the previous T5 and T6. Improved Mild-Hybrid Powertrains in the 2022 Volvo XC60
The new B5 and B6 hybrid engines preserve the performance and even improve upon the previous T5 and T6 engines. That said, they are also more efficient thanks to the inclusion of a new mild-hybrid system which can assist the powertrain during certain functions in order to reduce the strain on the engine and improve efficiency.
In the B5 engine, that means that you get 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque plus 13 horsepower from the integrated starter generator. That translates into 10 extra horsepower compared to the previous T5 engine. As for the B6 engine, it features 295 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque plus the same 13 horsepower from the mild-hybrid system. Again, you get more horsepower than the previous engine, but you also get better fuel economy. Indeed, the 2022 Volvo XC60 averages 9.4 L per 100 km with the B5 powertrain, and 9.9 L per 100 km with the B6 engine. Both powertrains averaged less than 9 L per 100 km on the highway.
The other significant Improvement made to the 2022 Volvo XC60 can be found in the infotainment system which is now based off Google Android.
