Volvo offers two compact electric crossovers that are both very practical and very comfortable due to their impressive interior space and versatility.
A cargo space that can accommodate almost anything
The 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge and the 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge are two practical small SUVs that offer large amounts of useable cargo space. The XC40 Recharge has an advantage over the C40 Recharge since its roofline is boxier and thus allows for a maximum of space inside of a small footprint. Despite that, the C40 Recharge can hold 413 litres of cargo behind the rear seats versus the 453 litres available in the XC40 Recharge. This large space is possible since, unlike a number of other electric or hybrid vehicles, the high-voltage battery is not located under the trunk floor. This also means that the XC40 Recharge has exactly all of the same interior dimensions as the gasoline-powered XC40.
Many possible configurations
If more space is needed, the backrests of the rear bench seat can be folded in a 60/40 configuration in both the 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge and the 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge. This means that even with up to two passengers seated in the rear, the cargo space can still be expanded by folding one portion of the seat and keeping the other one up. If the cargo is long and thin, such as skis, a trapdoor behind the center armrest can be opened to let them through while still allowing two passengers to sit in comfort. Folding both of the rear seats can also open up a very large loading space that can take up to 1,328 litres in the XC40 Recharge and 1,206 litres in the C40 Recharge.
More comfort for the passengers
The impressive interior space of the 2023 Volvo C40 Recharge and the 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge is not limited to the cargo space since these two vehicles benefit from more interior space in every direction than many of their competitors, which makes them more comfortable on longer trips by allowing everyone on board to stretch out and have their own personal space.
