In a move to enhance the driving experience, Volvo Cars is integrating the Waze app into all Volvo cars with Google built-in worldwide. This partnership aims to streamline navigation and eliminate phone-related distractions by enabling access to Waze’s real-time routing and alerts directly via the car’s infotainment system.
The in-car Waze app is accessible through a one-time setup after downloading it from the Google Play Store in the Volvo car. With this integration, navigation with Waze will be conveniently available with just a simple tap, regardless of the driver or the device they use.
The Waze app offers its renowned functionalities, previously accessible only on mobile phones, directly on the Volvo Cars’ infotainment system. With its larger, eye-level display area on the center screen, the Waze app promises to make navigation more comfortable and intuitive in the familiar Volvo user interface.
Erik Severinson, Volvo’s Global Head of New Car Programmes & Operations Strategy, stated: “We’re committed to continuously improving the experience in Volvo cars through in-house software development and collaborations with tech companies like Google and Waze.” This feature emphasizes Volvo’s dedication to enhancing and personalizing the driving experience through technological advancements.
Expressing his excitement about the collaboration, Aron Di Castro, Director of Marketing and Partnerships at Waze, said: “Car owners can now access Waze’s real-time navigation, routing, and alerts through the car’s infotainment system. This seamless integration makes for a simplified and improved driving experience."
The integration of the Waze app in Volvo Cars' infotainment system heralds a new era in in-car navigation, offering drivers worldwide a safer, more convenient, and personalized driving experience.
