Volvo vehicles have always been known for their safety and for their impressive innovations. This is even truer today with Volvo vehicles offering advanced driver assistance technologies that you will not find on any other model such as the ability to brake for large animals in entry-level Volvo vehicles.
It is not surprising that the company that brought us the seat belt has more IIHS Top Safety Pick+ models than any other automaker. The IIHS is considered the benchmark for a new vehicle safety testing and ranks every new vehicle on sale in North America after a series of complex and challenging collision tests.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has a range of distinct collision tests, the most complex being the overlap test. The overlap tests include the driver-side small overlap and passenger-side small overlap test as well as the moderate overlap test. These tests simulate what happens when your vehicle collides with an object on the front corners. This area has the least structural integrity and is the most difficult to protect.
Other IIHS safety tests include the roof strength test as well as the head restraint test and side collision tests. To receive a Top Safety Pick+ designation, a vehicle must get the highest grade in all of the collision tests while also receiving top grades for its driver assistance technologies and good or acceptable ratings for the quality of its headlights.
Many automakers have a few Top Safety Pick+ models in their lineup, but no other automaker has a Top Safety Pick+ vehicle across the line up like Volvo. Your safety is important to you and Volvo knows that. Give us a call today to discover the new Volvo line up and its IIHS Top Safety Pick+ models.
